Another
Christmas has gone by and travellers will be thinking of what they will be
doing at the end of the year for the next celebration. London is one of the
best destinations in the world to head to over the season as it has many
activities and light displays on show. A great place to visit are the various
ice rinks around the city including special one created at the Natural History
Museum. This popular destination is popular with children and is created in the
garden of the famous arts venue. The Christmas lights are particularly special
and are great for getting travellers into a good mood while they whirl around
this beautiful rink.
There
are also a number of Christmas markets in the city such as at the Southbank
offering pretty wooden chalets with handcrafted gifts, winter foods and mulled
wine. Travellers can wander along the Thames and take in the beautiful views
especially of the London Eye. A great place to take the family is Winter
Wonderland held annually in Hyde Park. This superb destination is a fantastic
place for young ones who will enjoy the rides, circus and traditional fairground.
There is also a German Winter market with hot chocolate and top Christmas gifts
and souvenirs, as well as acrobats and special shows that will engage all ages
of visitors.
Finding
the best accommodation in central London is vital for a successful trip over
the Christmas period. There are many hotels in Sussex Gardens and one of the best is Kingsway Park Hotel that is close
to many restaurants and entertainment venues. Based near Paddington Station
guests can easily get the speedy Heathrow Express to the airport. This lovely
hotel is perfect for both business and leisure tourists, and includes excellent
rooms with modern facilities such as a telephone and plasma television. There
is Wi-Fi internet that’s wonderful for checking emails or keeping up with
current affairs. Tourists will feel very comfortable when they head to this
destination for a holiday in London.
There
are some things at Christmas that really define the season and one of them is
heading to the world-famous Nutcracker ballet. This incredible show is held by
the English National Ballet and promises to be a show to remember liked equally
by adults and children. Another amazing activity is held at the Warner Brothers
Studio Tour, which will share with tourists the story around the making of the
Harry Potter films. There is a wintry vibe to many of the sets and tourists
will certainly feel that it is Christmas when they head there for a wander
around.
Another
thing that London excels at is putting on a pantomime at some of the most
exciting venues in the city. Travellers should plan ahead when visiting the UK
to work out where they would want to go. There are many held throughout
December and January and it’s a great place to take children. Something that is
beautiful at this time of year is the lights outside shop fronts in the capital
including department stores such as Harrods, Debenhams, John Lewis and
Selfridges. Walking along Oxford Street is also a fun activity and heading to
places such as Carnaby Street and Trafalgar Square are definitely worth it to
see the lights.
